Pride Tournament 2024

Footscray Park Bowling Club Pride event with a member dressed in rainbow wig, tutu, and leggings performing indoors, as others in colorful outfits cheer and watch.

On April 20th 2024, Footscray Park Bowling Club came alive with colour, laughter, and plenty of pride as we hosted our very first Pride Cup Tournament. From the moment the music kicked off to the final bowls rolled down the green, it was a day filled with joy, inclusivity, and unforgettable memories.

Entertainment & Atmosphere 🎶✨

The vibe was electric thanks to our incredible entertainers:

  • DJ Just Coz and DJ Gameface kept the energy high with their infectious tunes.

  • Our fabulous drag queens lit up the greens with humour, glamour, and sass.

  • The talented Pitch Face Choir brought the house down with their beautiful harmonies.

And, of course, in between all the music and performances, there was plenty of bowling action!

Best Dressed & Fabulous Fashion 👗🏆

The Pride Tournament wasn’t just about bowls—it was about style, spirit, and self-expression. The crowd favourite for Best Dressed went to none other than our very own greenskeeper, who stole the show and claimed the title by popular vote. Everywhere you looked, players brought colour and flair, making the day as visually dazzling as it was fun.

Staff, Volunteers & Community ❤️

Behind the scenes, our staff and volunteers worked tirelessly—from the planning stages to the pack-down. In a beautiful show of support, every staff member donated their first hour of pay to our fundraising total. We’re so proud and grateful to have such a dedicated team making days like this possible.

And the Winner Is… 🏆

While everyone brought their A-game, the honour of being our very first Pride Cup Champion went to Wicked Wicks! Congratulations on an outstanding performance—we’ll be getting that trophy engraved and ready for display.

Supporting Pride Foundation Australia

At the heart of this event was our commitment to raising funds for Pride Foundation Australia. Thanks to your generosity, raffles, and community spirit, we raised an incredible $1,427.50, which we proudly rounded up to $1,500. This contribution will go directly toward supporting LGBTQIA+ initiatives across Australia.

Looking Ahead 🌟

We’re still buzzing from the success of the Pride Tournament and can’t wait to bring it back even bigger and better next year. Thank you to everyone who participated, dressed up, danced, bowled, and donated—you made history with us.

Until then, keep spreading pride, joy, and community spirit.
