Our Greenskeeper Pushes Beyond Limits - 3,249 Pushups even with a Beer Keg on His Back!

At Footscray Park Bowling Club, we pride ourselves on strong greens, strong community… and apparently, very strong greenskeepers!

Recently, our legendary greenskeeper set out on a challenge that has left everyone shaking their heads in disbelief. Not only did he smash through an incredible 3,249 pushups, but he did it with a beer keg strapped to his back. Yes, you read that right – pushups plus beer keg resistance training!

This wasn’t just a display of brute strength. It was a demonstration of grit, endurance, and the kind of cheeky determination that embodies our club spirit. While most of us struggle after a few pushups (especially post-raffle dinner), our greenskeeper powered through thousands – making sure every rep was as solid as the work he puts into keeping our greens in pristine condition.

Why does this matter?

  • It shows the heart and resilience that make our club what it is.

  • It’s a reminder that sport is as much about spirit as it is about skill.

  • And let’s be honest – it’s a story that deserves to be told over and over at the bar.

What’s next?

While we don’t expect everyone to start keg-lifting pushups, we do invite you to bring that same energy to our greens. Whether it’s barefoot bowls, Friday night dinners, or simply having a laugh with mates, this club thrives on big moments – and this one is right up there.

So next time you see our greenskeeper, buy him a pint. After all, he’s earned it (3,249 times over). 🍻
